There is a tendency amongst operating managers and often also echoed by promoters, to ignore systems, as they are considered to be a hindrance to fast and flexible operations. It is often felt that a number of opportunities could be lost due to perceived bureaucracy in following systems. This is far from reality.

As organisations grow, some key people also grow and systems and processes are woven around them. Consequently instead of having people around systems, they have systems around people.
